We are looking for aspiring Scout influencers to join our Recruitment team by creating and sharing content!
We aim to show youth 13+ how great Scouting is, so we need YOU to help us share Scouting so they can see it in the most authentic way possible. We want appropriately-aged Scouts to know that there’s a place to showcase Scouting adventures, follow other Scout Stories, and share with friends who aren’t in Scouting about how fun it can be. We need Recruitment Influencers to lead the way!
If any Leaders or Parents have or know a Scout that excels at video creation, or you already have videos you’d like to share, please email us at info@ncacbsa.org.
PRIOR TO SUBMISSION: All photos and videos must have explicit consent and authorization from BOTH (1) the parent/legal guardian AND (2) an adult leader. Youth under the age of 18 are not legally permitted to grant such consent.
By submitting these photos/videos, you hereby irrevocably grant NCAC the perpetual right to use, reproduce, and distribute the material in any form and across all communication platforms, including but not limited to social media, newsletters, websites, and promotional fliers.

What Content Are We Looking For?
If it’s related to Scouting, weekend camping trips, special events like orienteering, or adventures like going to Philmont, that’s the content we want to share, and we would love for you to record and send it to us! However, Scouting is all about getting away from digital screens, so we are NOT endorsing every Scout to pull out their phones and record a video.
Who Can Be Involved?
Any Scout with the creative skill and interest! Two Scout leadership roles that could potentially be involved are the Historian and Webmaster.
- Historians collect, assemble, and preserve Troop photographs, news stories, trophies, flags, scrapbooks, awards, and other memorabilia and make materials available for Scouting activities, courts of honor, the media, and Troop history projects. So, since they are already tasked to record and preserve the Troop’s history, having them be a Scout with the ability to record on their phone makes Historians a great fit for this new role.
- Webmasters are responsible for maintaining the Troop’s website and ensuring it is correct and up-to-date; they also ensure that information posted on the website protects the privacy of youth and adult Troop members. So, their digital background makes them another great fit for this new role.
What Do You Need to Record Your Video?
You can use any type of camera to record videos, but only a smartphone is needed.
How Should You Format Your Videos?
We prefer the video formatted as 9:16 (vertically) or square and 15 – 30 seconds long since we want to put the videos on Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. When you send us your video, please add any additional notes and comments, like edits that enhance the video or copyright-free background music (or the type of genre you want us to use).
You may send us videos longer than 30 seconds, but please add to your submission what we should or should not edit out. Otherwise, we’ll edit the video however we think is best.
Download our “How To” Instructions to ensure you record your videos to our preferred standards.
