Workplace Giving Campaigns

October 30, 2018 by The Scouter Digest Staff

One of the easiest, most effective ways you can support National Capital Area Council is through workplace giving, an employer-sponsored program that empowers you to support your favorite charities through tax-deductible donations deducted directly from your paycheck.

Through our membership with America’s Charities, employees at hundreds of public and private organizations can donate to NCAC through payroll contributions.

Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)

CFC is a workplace giving campaign for federal employees: civilian employees, military personnel and postal workers. National Capital Area Council is a member of America’s Charities Community First federation and is listed as CFC #48974.

Look for us in your workplace charitable giving campaign and designate National Capital Area Council, Boy Scouts of America #48974 as recipient of your generosity on your pledge forms.

The campaign season is typically between September 1 and December 15 each year. Check with your agency for exact dates.

Don’t forget to check if you employer will match your donation or the hours you have volunteered! Visit www.doublethedonation.org/ncacbsa.

NCAC’s Popular Camp Card Program Returns!

October 30, 2018 by The Scouter Digest Staff

The Camp Card fundraising program is back! Camp Cards help Scouts earn their way to summer camp, day camp, and high adventure treks. Units participating in the 2019 program will earn 50% commission ($2.50) on each $5 Camp Card they sell.

This program is risk free – you can simply return any unsold cards! The 2019 sale will run from February 1 to May 15. Sign-ups begin November 1. To sign up please go to: www.NCACBSA.org/CampCard.

Keep your eye out to see which great vendors we have locked in for you in 2019! In addition to the coupons you see on the card, you also get access to thousands of other coupons through the Entertainment discount network. This gives units more options when selecting locations for show and sell opportunities.

Don’t miss out! Sign up at www.NCACBSA.org/CampCard. Cards will be distributed at the February Roundtables.

For more information email CampCard@NCACBSA.org.

In Just Five Minutes You Could Double Your Donation or Get Paid for Volunteer Hours!

October 30, 2018 by The Scouter Digest Staff

Did you know there is an easy way to double the impact of your contribution to local Scouting programs? It’s called an employee giving program!

Scouting counts on the generosity of donors like you to keep our program accessible to all families, and to ensure we provide top-notch services, facilities, and programs for young people and volunteer leaders.

Employee giving programs enhance the impact of your donations. These typically take two forms: matching gifts and matching hours.

Matching gifts are donations a company makes to match its employees’ charitable contributions. These are typically dollar-for-dollar matches but some companies go even further by tripling or quadrupling their employees’ donations.

Some companies even offer matching hours and will pay NCAC for hours you volunteer! To recognize your ongoing support of Scouting, your employer may provide a grant to our Council. These grants can be anywhere from $25 to $5,000!

Is your company a matching gift or matching hours company? Please take a minute to find out. Visit www.doublethedonation.org/ncacbsa and see if your employer is listed.

Statistics show that only 9% of employees take advantage of their employers matching gifts opportunity. Let us help you become one of those 9%! Contact Tiffany Tomeo at Tiffany.Tomeo@Scouting.org if you need assistance, and please help us spread the word by sending this link to others in your company so they can join you in taking advantage of this opportunity to help young people in our communities.
