Summer Camp Planning for Bear and Webelos Den Leaders

Bear and Webelos Den Leaders! Now that you are in your role of Den Leader to incredible Bear and Webelos Scouts, you and your Den are invited to attend Summer Camp at Camp Ross at Goshen Scout Reservation this coming summer!

Camp Ross is home to a week-long summer camp experience just for rising (incoming) Webelos and rising Arrow of Light Scouts. Here, they’ll take part in some amazing outdoor adventures, including swimming, boating, fishing, archery, BB shooting, hiking, and outdoor skills development (to name a few)!

You are invited to start planning your Summer 2025 Adventures on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 7:00 pm. We’ll review “A Day in the Life” at Camp Ross, walk through the registration process, and answer any questions you may have.

As you are learning, the Cub Scout Program provides Scouts with the opportunity to learn about being a member of their family, how to take an active role in serving their neighborhood, and living by the ideals of the Scouting Program. At Camp Ross, our Scouts become members of a Camp Community with Scouts from across the Council. They meet new friends, make lasting memories, and take critical steps in learning about the next part of their Scouting journey: Scouts BSA.

2024 Goshen Updates: Internet

You heard that right! The Goshen Scout Reservation will begin updating its Internet Services in Spring 2024. Internet updates will be taking place over two phases:

Phase One: Fiberoptic installed at Camps Ross, Baird (Lenhok’sin High Adventure), and Marriott

This spring, fiberoptic internet will be installed at Camp Ross, Camp Baird, and Camp Marriott in collaboration with BARC Connections. Wi-Fi will be available at the Admin Building, Leader Lounge, and Dining Hall (Ross only) for participant use.

Phase Two: Fiberoptic internet installed at Camps Olmsted, Bowman, and Post

National Capital Area Council and Goshen Scout Reservation are exploring several options to expand internet services to Camp Olmsted, Camp Bowman, and Camp Post for the near future. Verizon Wi-Fi Hotspots will still be available at the Admin Buildings and Leader Lounges for Summer 2024.

Why are we installing fiberoptic? Not only will fiberoptic improve internet services for Camp Staff and Administration, it will also allow for many adult leaders who need to stay in contact with their workplace to do so while they’re at camp. Although we will still encourage summer camp being an “unplugged” experience, we’re looking forward to continuing to improve Goshen operations, facilities, and program offerings.

Upcoming Webinar Series: Summer Camp 2024

These webinars are a great orientation for new leaders, for units going to a camp that is new to them, or for returning leaders that want the latest update. There will be representation from Goshen Scout Reservation, Camp Snyder, District Day and Twilight Camps, Camp Catoctin BSA, and the NCAC High Adventure Committee’s contingents. Choose your summer adventure in 2024!

March 13: Cub Scout Camps

Get the details on day camp and overnight camps for rising Tigers through rising Arrow of Light Scouts at Camp Snyder, Goshen’s Camp Ross, and District Day and Twilight Camps.

March 20: Scouts BSA Camps

Get information about programs for both Troops and individuals at Goshen’s Camps Bowman, Marriott, and Olmsted; Goshen’s Provisional Camp program; Camp Snyder’s Specialty Weeks; and Camp Catoctin BSA.

March 27: High Adventure

Looking for adventure? Get the information for Summer 2024 on trail and river treks at Goshen’s Lenhok’sin High Adventure and the trips to National High Adventure bases and more run by the High Adventure Committee.
