New at Camp Marriott in 2022!

December 14, 2021 by Goshen Scout Reservation

What’s new in 2022?

As we do every year at Goshen Scout Reservation’s Camp Marriott, we have updated our program schedule. Some badges have been rotated out and some badges have been rotated in. With some familiar badges – like Bird Study – we also have some entirely new badges – like Moviemaking.

There is a big change for Shooting Sports class – Archery, Rifle Shooting, and Shotgun Shooting. Rather than 2 consecutive hours in either the morning or the afternoon, now the Merit Badges have a Part 1 and a Part 2 – an hour long morning session plus an hour long afternoon session. There are still two sections – A and B – but now both have components in the morning and the afternoon. Make sure you plan your schedule accordingly!

Meanwhile, Eagle’s Eyrie’s schedule features Eagle required badges in the morning and a mix of different humanities badges in the afternoon. Adding to that is Archaeology, which is moving up the trail from Ecology to become part of Eagle’s Eyrie’s offerings.

The featured area for the 2022 season is The Guild, which is expanding its offerings to include a number of new skills and trades in addition to the popular favorites like Cooking, Welding, Metalwork, and Woodwork.

Check out the full list of new for 2022 badges below and be sure to check out the full program schedule in the Downloads section to start picking your favorite Merit Badges and activities for the summer!

Registration is OPEN for Camp Snyder Scouts BSA Specialty Week 2022 !!!

December 10, 2021 by Craig Weston

In 2021, 138 Scouts BSA earned over 500 Merit Badges from 45 different offerings, including Eagle required Merit Badges at the Camp Snyder Scouts BSA Specialty Week.

Specialty week will be offered again in 2022 during the week of July 17 – 23. New for 2022 will be rank advancement skills training and knowledge instruction for obtaining Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class ranks. Perfect for new Scouts!

Camp Snyder has some amazing facilities. Among those are the Woodshop, STEM facility, swimming pool, archery and air rifle ranges, Scouterhorn climbing tower and amphitheater. We have created a Scouts BSA Specialty week with the activities Scouts expect from a summer camp. Want to earn your Woodworking or Woodcarving Merit Badge? Want to learn about Drones and spend some time in the STEM lab? Or, learn the basic Scouting skills needed to advance in rank, like how to start a fire, prepare an outdoor meal or safely use a knife and axe? Come out and spend a week of your summer at Camp Snyder!

Combine your interest in merit badges and rank advancement with camping, dining, swimming, boating, and many other summer camp favorites. Scouts can participate as units or individuals, as day campers or as overnight campers.

Registration for Merit Badges and advancement training will be in spring 2022. Only 150 Scouts will be able to participate in this special week at Camp Snyder, so sign up now to reserve your space at https://www.gotosnyder.org/summer-camp/specialty-week/

Webelos Camp Update

May 7, 2021 by Aaron Chusid

The weather is getting warmer, the cicadas are getting louder, and we’re getting ready for an amazing summer of Outdoor Adventure at Goshen Scout Reservation!

As we approach the beginning of the camping season, however, we have had to make a difficult decision about this summer. After consultation with our Council’s VP of Outdoor Adventure and Camping Chairs, to ensure we can provide every Pack with an outstanding program, we have made the decision to combine our Webelos camps for this summer. That means all Webelos programs will be taking place at Camp Ross. If your Pack has already registered to attend Camp PMI for weeks 2-5 this means you will be moved to the same week at Camp Ross. Some Packs registered for week 1 may be asked to switch to an alternate week; we are offering these Packs a 20% discount for their inconvenience.

This was not a decision we made lightly. We considered many factors, including the following:

  • Combining the camps allows us to consolidate resources, ensuring we can run all program areas effectively.
  • We selected Ross because it has had more recent facility upgrades and will help make general logistics more efficient.
  • Consolidating the Webelos programs into one camp ensures all key staff positions are filled. Other PMI staff will help fill openings in our other summer programs.

Packs should not have to take additional action at this time; we will simply switch their registration in the system. They will still attend camp in the same week and enjoy the same high-quality program, staff, and food service as they have come to expect at Camp PMI.

Please note that there will still be plenty of room for more Webelos at Camp Ross, so sign up today and be part of the adventure! For more information about Camp Ross please visit the website: www.gotogoshen.org/camp-ross.

See you all this summer!
