Volunteers gather to refinish, the John Mosby Russell Interfaith Chapel, which is not only the home of Duty to God at Camp W.B. Snyder, but one of the Camp’s focal points. While there is still work to do to on the beautifully designed structure, freshening its distinctive wall was a great place to start.








Michael’s Woodshop is operated by a group of volunteer Shop Stewards. There is growing demand for the use of this amazing facility and there is a need for additional volunteers. Teaching and guiding Scouts in this creative environment is an incredibly rewarding experience. Both experienced woodworkers and novices, including older Scouts can become part of the team. Scouts from Troops 1916 and 2119 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in McLean, VA ready to head out on the C&O Canal Tow Path for a 50 mile bike ride from Cumberland, MD to Great Cacapon, MD on October 12th.This is their seventh ride for the Cycling merit badge after completing two tens, two fifteens, and two twenty-five milers. The Scouts finished their ride in under 6 hours!
National Capital Area Council is celebrating 100 years of camping that began in 1919 with Camp Roosevelt. To this day, you can still see signs made by Camp Roosevelt campers on display at the Camp Olmsted Handicraft pavilion.
